HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO SHAPING THE CONFERENCE?

At the EDGE Conference 2025 From Pledge to Action : Accountability in Philanthropy, we aim to create the space for grantmakers to show ways in which philanthropy as a sector can be accountable to systemic change and social justice movements. At the same time, we hope to create a space for social justice movements to showcase their ideas, visions and narratives and feel celebrated and acknowledged.

Here is an overview of what you can expect and how you can help shape the EDGE conference 2025.

“Roots” Sessions: The What and How of Accountability

The Roots sessions draw on the idea that, just as roots anchor a tree and provide essential nutrients for growth, these sessions will focus on the foundational ideas, practices, and radical approaches that nourish systemic change. These sessions are designed to center approaches and alternatives that need sustained support and funding towards long lasting systemic change.

By going to the roots, we aim to uncover and amplify the core practices and visions that shift power toward frontline change-makers and align with solidarity movements. For this reason, we hope these sessions will also create a space for funders to share insights into their practices of accountability in the sector, sharing lessons learned and concrete practices of how philanthropy can be aligned with community - led change. We hope that this will also help movement leaders better understand the internal dynamics of philanthropy.

Priority will be given to proposals that highlight:

  • Approaches that center the voices of marginalized communities, narratives of solidarity, and bold systemic alternatives that need to be funded. (M)

  • Ideas and frameworks that showcase philanthropic models that challenge existing funding mechanisms and center accountability (F)

  • Demonstrate new ideas or approaches to practices of accountability (M/F)

EDGE conferences are highly-interactive spaces, and there are plenty of ways to engage in conversation and mutual learning. We welcome your initiative and creative ideas during the conference! We set up the programme in a way that allows for spontaneous interactions to take place but also rely on you, our participants, to create an open environment of joint inquiry and learning.

We look forward to your brilliant contributions to help create an amazing conference. Please get in touch with Martina (martina@edgefunders.org) if you have any questions or suggestions.
